Rajasthan government to take possession of Udaipur House in Delhi
JAIPUR: The state government is gearing up to take possession of the Udaipur House located in the national capital. The prime property worth crores of rupees is currently under possession of the Delhi government, which contested a court case claiming ownership over it.
"The Rajasthan government has won the court case and the ownership has been decided in our favour. We will soon take possession of the Udaipur House," minister of state for estate, Bharosi Lal Jatav told reporters on Monday. Earlier, the minister held a meeting with the department's senior officials, including principal secretary Kiran Soni Gupta, at the state secretariat for reviewing the Rajasthan's nazul properties. The properties located in the Jaipur division were specially focused on in Monday's meeting.
While efforts to reclaim the Udaipur House will be taken at the chief minister's level, the state estate department is preparing to auction some its nazul properties beginning January next year. The department is targeting to collect Rs 500 crores through the auctions, officials said.
For taking possession of the Udaipur House, chief minister Ashok Gehlot would soon be talking to his counterpart in Delhi, Sheila Dikshit. "The matter will be taken up at the two states' chief secretaries and chief ministers," Jatav said. The Udaipur House is spread across an area of nearly 12,000 sq meters close to Delhi's Tees Hazari court.
Meanwhile, the state estate department is believed to have identified nearly 8000 nazul properties that would be put under the hammer starting the first week of January 2011. "Our teams have also been sent to cities like Agra, Mathur and Varanasi for taking stock of Rajasthan's nazul properties. We will take up the issue with the Uttar Pradesh government also," said Jatav.
